But this little handy small house guide will keep you right.

Assess What You Need Out Of The Space

How you are going to use your small space depends on what you want out of your space. Is it just a place to hang your hat and sleep, or are you going to be there most of the day and be spending the majority of your day in the house?

So if you are going to be spending time there then think about your TV space or hobby areas. If you are living on your own then you don’t need to worry about anyone else, make it just for you.

If You Are Downsizing, How To Decide What To Throw Out

Going from a large property to a smaller one you are inevitably going to end up with more stuff than eh space you have to put it in. So how to decide what to throw out? Well, anything that you can describe as clutter is a good start. Also honestly assess whether or not you are going to ever use something again if you haven’t used the bread-maker in a decade what is likely to make you begin now?

Organize Your Storage Space

Storage space is key to make use of in a smaller home as you will be short of the luxury of just putting anything and everything away for another time. You need to make harder and more decisive decisions about what goes where and how to organize it, The Home Blog has a great style guide to maximizing space and making it well-organized and looking great.

Are You Lacking A Garden?

One thing that can be the hardest to adjust to when downsizing is getting used to not having the same amount of garden space available to you. It may be that you just have to use it more wisely and prioritize what plants and features mean the most to you.

Also, take this opportunity to embrace going to the park more or visiting other nearby outdoor areas. It can be a good thing as well, you will be saved the huge job possibly of mowing a large area or looking after numerous planting areas.

Having House Guests Over

You may have been used to having the luxury of a guest bedroom when having people over and this can be a good position to be in as if they are coming from out of town, or have had a few glasses of wine with dinner it makes things easier.

So how to cope if you suddenly don’t have this anymore in your new tiny house? Well, you’ll never get the exact replacement of a whole room, but you could consider a sofa-bed or fold-down futon?

Overall it will be an adjustment but over time, as with any move, it will just become home.
