These food groups include those that contain high amounts of sugar and any traces of yeast. However, this task isn’t as simple as it seems since there are a lot of foods that seem healthy despite containing high amounts of sugar and yeast. Here are some of these foods that should be avoided during a Candida cleanse diet.

Honey

Because of the fact that honey is considered by many healthcare experts and researchers as a healthier alternative to sugar, most people who are following a Candida cleanse diet think that this food is highly recommended. However, the truth of the matter is that honey is still converted into sugar when digested. Considering that the same can be said for other sugar alternatives such as rice syrup and agave, these foods should be avoided during this type of cleansing diet.

Pickles

Even though pickles hardly or don’t contain sugar and cholesterol, this type of food should still be avoided by those who are trying to follow a Candida cleansing diet. This is because a jar of pickles contains high amounts of vinegar that is usually not apple cider vinegar, such as sherry vinegar. For those who are trying to lose weight, fish-based dishes are highly preferred because of its low calorie and high protein content. For those who are following a Candida cleanse diet, on the other hand, eating fish-based dishes isn’t as healthy as it seems. This is because smoked, cured, and breaded fish contain high amounts of sugar and yeast. For smoked and cured dishes, the sugar can be found in the marinate or drizzle sauce. For breaded fish, high amounts of yeast can be found in the breading. This is why those who are following a Candida cleansing diet should be careful when it comes to eating fish-based dishes.

Fruit juices and smoothies

Despite being low in calories and fat, consuming fruit-based juices and smoothies can be as tricky as eating fish-based dishes for those who are following a Candida cleanse diet. This is because commercially-prepared juices and smoothies often contain high amounts of sugar. However, those who are following this diet plan don’t need to abstain from all fruit juices and smoothies. All they need to do is carefully choose the type of smoothies and juices that they consume to ensure that the fruits that are being used are not high in sugar. This is the reason why consuming those that are made by combining two or more fruits is highly unadvisable as well. For those who are following a juicing plan, making their own smoothies and fruit juices is highly recommended.

The secret to a successful Candida cleanse diet is keeping a sharp and watchful eye on the foods that are consumed on a daily basis. This ensures that foods that only seem healthy on the outside but are really packed with sugar and yeast are avoided.
