Things to Look Forward to When You Are 30

Things to Look Forward to When You Are 30

A lot of people dread reaching their 30s.  I personally dreaded the day I turned 30.  I felt like I was going through a horror movie (and mind you, I hate horror movies!).  I felt old.  Super old.  Well, until I realized it wasn’t really as bad as I thought it would be.  And for those of you who are turning 30, fret not!  It really isn’t bad at all.  Sure, 20s sound a lot better than 30s, but there are a lot of good things to look forward to when you’re 30.

When you’re 30, you’re finally an adult.

Although you officially become an adult at the age of 18, you don’t really mature as an adult until you get to your 30s.  You’re suddenly this character whose decisions and experiences matter and are sought after.  You have endless opportunities you thought you would never have.

When you’re 30, you value time better.

Because you’ve spent all your younger years doing what you want to do and wasting a lot of time doing things that are fun, your 30s will give you a better perspective of time’s value.  You begin traveling more and appreciating nature.  You start spending more time with family.  You appreciate the time you can spend listening to music, reading a book, or watching a movie. when you're 30

When you’re 30, you know the importance of savings.

I spent so much money on useless things during my 20s only because I wasn’t really looking forward to doing something about my future.  When you reach your 30s, you now have this need to make sure that your future is secure.  You have a better idea of what you want and you start really saving up for it.

When you’re 30, you know what you want.

You now have figured out if you want to stay single or if you want to get married.  You have already recognized your needs versus your wants and have weighed them accordingly, knowing that you’re going to achieve everything on your list.

When you’re 30, you take better care of your health.

The sad truth is that a lot of people neglect their health during their early years.  They focus their attention on things that are superficial and temporary.  When you’re in your 30s, you become conscious of your health and how important it’s to be fit and well.  You know you’ve no time to lose and that you need to make up for all those times you ate junk food and abused your body.

Getting old is inevitable.  This should never cause anxiety and stress to anyone.  Just think about this: as you grow older, you’re exposed to more good things that life can offer.
